My love of stripes is well documented on this blog, in my closet and all over my Pinterest board. I can’t help myself… they are classic, chic and sophisticated which I love. I’m also infatuated with the bright denim this spring and these Old Navy Rockstar skinny jeans are my new favorites…they are super comfy, a great color and only $30! This is one of my favorite casual spring time outfits, perfect for running errands, writing or hanging out on the weekend. With the bold jeans, bright nails and statement jewelry I like grounding the look and taking the girly quotation down a bit with a neutral bag, shoes and my favorite utilitarian JCrew army jacket. I bought it a few seasons ago, and I wear with everything from maxi dresses to and sandals in the summer to skinny jeans and boots in the fall.
With spring here and summer around the corner, what could be better than a printable workout designed specifically to help you get tank top arms?!? I love this season’s sleeveless tops and maxi dresses but after a long winter of sweaters and long sleeve blouses my arms could use a little toning. (Truth be told, I’m pretty self conscious about my upper arms so I love exercises that focus on shaping my shoulders and triceps.) Add this workout into your regular cardio routine or some lower body strength work (like the Perfect 10 Lean Legs Workout . All you need is a pair of dumbbells, and you’ll be sporting fabulous toned arms in your favorite outfit this spring and summer!

Full disclosure…I am a total cookie monster! I have an undeniable weakness for cookies…chocolate chip, peanut butter, girl scout, snickerdoodle, it doesn’t matter I cannot pass up a cookie. That’s why I was so excited when I found this recipe on FitSugar for low fat, 60 calorie chocolate chip cookies, after all I love making healthier versions of my favorite foods. It uses greek yogurt in place of butter and oatmeal to give it some chew. I replaced the raisins with extra chocolate chips and used oat flour and all purpose flour in place of wheat flour and wheat bran. These cookies are so chewy and delicious and they totally satisfy my cookie craving… in fact, even my husbad loves them! Give them a try and let me know what you think!

Happy Friday! Here are three things to try that I think will make for a Fit Fab Weekend!
- Wine bottles make a perfect water carafe for the table: One of my favorite coffee cafe/ bistros in Seattle serves water in a wine bottle on the table and I love it. Many wine bottle are so pretty and it’s a creative way to set the table as oppose to using a regular water pitcher. You could make your own labels and the wine bottles are easy to store in the fridge so they’re cold for dinner. If you have a screw top wine (like many from Australia) you can keep the bottle in the fridge and reuse it.
- Unplug: My husband and I recently took a quick weekend trip to Whistler, Canada after many, many weeks of non stop work. We vowed to turn off our cell phones, and that meant no email, no text messages and no obssesive checking of People.com. ( BTW, I’m the only one who checks People.com, my husband would want me to tell you that:) It was a little uncomfortable at first but one we were past the initial separation anxiety, the self imposed (and roaming charge imposed) tech break was fabulous! We enjoyed each other’s company more, we enjoyed our surroundings more and we finally had the ability to relax. Even if it’s for one hour this weekend try to unplug and live like everyone did, oh, I don’t know, 10 years ago;)
- Sport Chambray: I’m completely obsessed with the classic chambray shirt, especially for the weekend. It’s low-key but still super fashionable and chic (very Gwyneth) and makes for an oh so sophisticated off duty look. Wear it with white jeans and flat sandals or wedges or open over a nautical striped dress with cute flats. I promise you’ll looking for ways to wear chambray all week long as well:)
Happy Fit Fab Weekend!
