How-To Stack and Layer Bracelets

I’m such a huge fan of statement jewelry since it adds personality to every outfit, and can transform a simple which t-shirt into fabulous fashion. Plus, most statement jewelry comes with surprisingly affordable price points, in fact, I have picked up some of my favorite finds at H&M and Forever 21 for five dollars a piece! JCrew features some of the best bold necklaces and bracelets and is a great place for a splurge.

Layering jewelry is a huge trend so here is a quick how-to guide with some “themed” looks for inspiration!

  • Have fun through mixing textures, color and sizes.
  • Pick a theme…classic, sparkle, silver or chain links, then pick different textures within a theme.
  • Try not to use only big bracelets, a few small ones really add dimension.
  • You watch always makes a great addition to layered bracelets.

Outfit Idea: Bordeaux Skinny Jeans and Silk Blouse For Winter

You know that incredible feeling when you find the holy grail of shopping purchases…the perfect pair of jeans? Well, I think I finally found mine. After an exhaustive search, I picked up this pair of  Joe’s skinny stretch jeans, and they are the perfect mid rise, the right amount of stretch and most importantly, are so comfortable I actually hang around the house in them. To make the purchase even better, I found them on sale at one of my favorite haunts, Nordstrom Rack. Paired with Jcrew’s ideal slik Blythe blouse and, of course, statement jewelry, this is one of my new go to outfits for fall. After all, does it get any better than style and comfort?

  1. JCrew Blythe blouse (dot print is out of stock but if you want polka dots check out this one from Madewell.)
  2. Ann Taylor bracelet (mine is old from JCrew but this one is great)
  3. JCrew necklace( mine is old from H&M but this one from JCrew is on my Christmas list:)
  4. Joe’s Skinny Stretch Jeans in Bordeaux: These are the best jeans I have found if you have a more athletic build. You don’t feel any muffin top and they are totally flattering…a serious win!
  5. Gap Booties (mine are from Gap and out of stock on line but I have seen them in the store)

Outfit Idea: 3 Ways To Wear A Striped Tee

If I’m out shopping and I come across anything with stripes…chances are it’s coming home with me. I love the nautical inspiration and wearing a stripes makes me feel classic like Grace Kelly with a hint of Parisian chic.

If you don’t already have a striped top you’ll want to put one on your must have list for spring. As you can see from the collage above, striped tees are really versatile, complementing many different personal styles, and make outfits a little more visually interesting than just a plain t-shirt. I wear mine at least once a week and love styling it with everything from jeans to leather shorts to military jackets.

If you’re looking for an investment piece I’d go with Saint James but if you want a more budget friendly buy then everyone from Gap to H&M to uniqulo has a striped shirt for under 20 dollars. It a a great purchase you’ll wear from season to season that will add polish and sophistication to every outfit… and trust me pretty soon you’ll be a stripe enthusiast too:)

Here are details on three ways to wear stripes…

Striped top is from Madewell and I also love this one from StyleMint

Outfit Idea: Wide Leg Jeans and Dot Blouse

During a trip to Nordstroms this fall I made a fantastic discovery. I was in the market for wide leg jeans to add some variety to the skinnies and straight legs that I usually gravitate toward. I love wide legs and flares for the 70′s vibe, they’ are cool and effortlessly chic…however, I could not find a single pair that were flattering for my athletic legs. That was until I found MOTHER. This brand is the collaborative brainchild of  designers from Citizen’s of Humanity and 7 Jeans and has the softest texture with tons of stretch which is super flattering if you have a more muscular lower body. Plus, the  longer hem makes for endless legs when paired with a platform or wedge .

I love paring wide legs and flares with a silky, flowy top like this one from Banana Republic with some bold jewelry. It’s a go to for casual dinners with my husband or strolling through Pike Place Market on the weekend. Wide legs and flare jeans are super versatile (day to night, fall to summer) and really flattering so if you don’t already have a pair in your denim wardrobe  I would definitely suggest adding them!

The Basics

  1. Mother Wilder Trouser Jeans. Also Gap has a great pair for $70 that is a little bit friendler for the old wallet:)
  2. Banana Republic Bella Pintuck Blouse. BR is out online but I have seen plenty of this style in the store.

Leather Goods

  1. JCrew Greer Wedge Booties. Unfortunately these booties are no longer available but these platform sandals would be great for spring.
  2. JCrew Brompton Hobo:I love love love this bag. It’s big so I have to be careful not to fill it with five pounds of lip gloss but it’s also a classic shape , super soft and comes with a shoulder strap so I take it everywhere.

Jewelry

  1. Gold Bangle $40 Banana Republic. The one I’m wearing is actually from Forever 21 which is my go to go fun statement jewelry. I love it, they have bins with things that are all totally on trend and under five dollars!
  2. The necklace I’m wearing is old and from JCrew (my other jewelry go to ) but I like this one from Asos for $26. It’s very cool and I’d totally wear it with my wide leg jeans and white tee and leather jacket. Hmmm… I think I have outfit  for tomorrow picked out;)

Feel Fab Friday: How to style ankle boots this weekend

Living in the city I can’t always get away with wearing my stiletto heels. I do lots of walking around which means navigating hills,  cobblestones, uneven sidewalks and (because I live in Seattle) plenty of rain-soaked roadways and puddles. While I would love to effortlessly breeze down the sidewalks like Carrie Bradshaw in her six in Manolo’s, sometimes it’s just not in the cards for me.
That’s why I love wedges…I get the same great leg lengthening look as heels but without having to worry about breaking an ankle on a Starbucks run. I was so excited this week when these J Crew Greer Ankle Boots finally showed up at my door. The are so on trend for fall, super stylish, versatile and allow me to actually be a little function while remaining fashionable. Seeing how perfectly they complimented everything from cropped trousers to maxi dresses totally made stalking the UPS guy worth it.
Two of my favorite ways to wear these boots are with skinny jeans (cigarette length or just cuff them to show the boots) and a cozy belted cardi-coat or paired with a relaxed and flirty leather skirt. I love an oversized cashmere cardigan and clutch for a more casual look or a silk blouse and piles of my favorite J Crew bracelets for something more sophisticated!
These collages were made in Polyvore so click on them to get info on the clothes!
